A triple-constraint diagram that shows, with a single triangle, a decision to hold two of three constraints (speed, quality, scope, or time, cost, scope) and give up the third. On the left the two held vertices are filled circles, the one given up is a dashed circle, and only the edge joining the held pair is drawn as a thick accent line. On the right a ledger of two Hold rows and one Give row plus a 'cost of this choice' callout records the decision together with what it costs.

Best for: Sharing a decision to cut scope in quarterly planning, negotiating a launch date, agreeing priorities with leadership, declaring constraints at a project kickoff
Use: Use it when people must agree which of three linked constraints, such as speed, quality and scope or time, cost and scope, is held and which is given up. It fits scope cuts in quarterly planning, launch date negotiations, priority agreements with leadership and constraint declarations at kickoff. The triangle shows at a glance that all three cannot be fixed at once and the thick edge marks the choice, the ledger on the right states why each held constraint matters and what giving one up buys, and the callout names the cost and how it is handled, so the decision reads as a reasoned choice rather than a decree.
Avoid: Use comparison-tradeoff-spectrum to place options on several independent axes that cannot be summed, diagram-quadrant-matrix to position items on a two-axis plane, diagram-force-field to set driving forces against restraining ones, and comparison-feature-matrix to score several options. It does not fit when there are not exactly three constraints, when the discussion is still open about what to give up, or when all three can actually be held.
