A close-reading quote slide: one verbatim excerpt is carried at full length with number markers set inside the sentences, and three annotations on the right tell the audience where to look. Left 58 percent holds the excerpt plus the speaker and a source wordmark; right 42 percent holds the numbered annotation rows (marker, evidence type, one line of reading), where only the first marker is filled and its heading enlarged so the weight is uneven on purpose. A bottom band carries the conclusion the excerpt supports. This is the grammar for using a quote as evidence rather than as atmosphere.

Best for: Reading a user interview excerpt, presenting qualitative evidence in a research report, analyzing a churned customer call, answering a diligence question with the original wording
Use: When one quote is the evidence and the audience also needs to be told how to read it. Use it for user interview excerpts, qualitative evidence in research reports, churned-customer call analysis, and diligence answers quoted verbatim. It works when the excerpt runs three sentences or longer (shorten it and there are no phrases left to annotate), each annotation has a figure behind its reading, and one annotation clearly matters more than the others.
Avoid: For the impact of a single line, use quote-large-statement, quote-chapter-banner, or quote-pull. To build social proof from many voices use quote-social-wall, quote-ticker-strip, quote-press-headlines, or quote-nps-verbatim-segments; pair testimony with outcome figures in quote-metric-spotlight; contrast two speakers before and after in quote-comparison-duo; answer a concern in quote-objection-rebuttal. For number pins over a product screenshot use visual-annotated-screenshot, and for decomposing the cause itself use problem-root-cause. If there is only one phrase worth marking, the annotation panel sits empty and quote-editorial-split is the better fit.
